JJ Parkey – “Darren”
JJ Parkey (Darren) is very excited to be a part of the development of Next Thing You Know. He loves doing new works, so this project has been a great step for him. A recent graduate of Wright State University, JJ’s past credits include Hedwig and the Angry Inch, The Last 5 Years, Never The Sinner, All My Sons, Sweeney Todd, A Little Night Music and ETC’s Rent. Last spring he also did a production of Come Together–an original 60′s rock musical with his friend and co-writer Amy Geist.
Matthew D. Curry – “Luke”
Matt Curry (Luke), making his debut with Encore Theater Company, is thrilled to be working on the new piece Next Thing You Know. He has been seen in numerous productions around town (The Who’s Tommy-Tommy, Cabaret-Emcee, Carve-[also a new work with DPH's FutureFest] as Ryan Duffy, The Paris Letter-Burt Sarris/Young Anton, Cover of Life-Tommy Cliffert, Rocky Horror Show-Brad Majors, Hair A Tribal Love Rock Musical-Claude Bukowski, and Sinclair College productions a-plenty. Matt has received numerous awards for his portrayals including but not limited to: Award of Excellence in a Supporting Role-Paris Letter/Triumph of Love(a Sinclair Production), Award of Merit in a Supporting Role-Cover of Life. Also Matt has performed at The Kennedy Center American Collegiate Theatre Festival-A Piece of Monologue (part of the production Footfalls: A Night of Samuel Beckett)
Amy Leigh – “Waverly”
Amy Leigh (Waverly) is a Dayton native, recently returned to Dayton after working as a musician and songwriter in Nashville, TN. She appeared as Jessa in Carve, the audience favorite at Dayton Playhouse’s FutureFest last summer. Other favorite roles include Virginia in Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up?, Peggy in Godspell, and Sara Jane Moore in Assassins. Professional credits include The King and I, The Wizard of Oz, Cabaret, and Annie Get Your Gun. She earned a BFA in Musical Theatre and a BA in Creative Writing from Ohio Northern University. Amy also recently won “Best in Show” in the Dayton Daily News/Antioch Writers’ Workshop Writing Contest. Love and gratitude to Encore and the NTYK team!
